Located in Hansonville, VA, the Family Bluegrass Barn hosts bluegrass, country, and old time music every Saturday night, from 7:30-10:30pm. Started eighteen years ago by the late George Francis Sr., the Bluegrass Barn still goes strong today, now run by son, George Francis Jr. and his wife Regina.
George's group, the Dixie River Band was the house band for many years, and still play about once a month.

If you like to dance, this is your venue, with one of the largest dance floors east of the Mississippi. Lots of flatfooters come out to shows, two-stepping is a favorite among the crowd, and occasional square dances are held. Great mix of  bluegrass, old time and honky tonk, country to dance to.

I consider this a "real-deal" place with a nice, down home, country feel. It is also a venue where you see all ages from toddlers to teenagers to older generations. Family fun environment!
$5 cover charge, 12 and under free

Applewood Music Park is an indoor venue located in Cana, VA on highway 52. It features traditional old time, bluegrass and classic country music on every Friday and Saturday of the year. There is a large dance floor, and is a great place to go for flatfooting, square dancing, and two stepping. A large percentage of the crowd are dancers who have been flatfooting and square dancing for generations, although there are lot of listeners and newcomers, too. Most shows begin at 7:30 pm with $6 admission price. I would recommend this venue for folks who like to dance or see authentic mountain music and dance. No drugs, alcohol, smoking or taps. Run by Truman and Ollie Puckett.
